Introducing the Komorebi Series

There are moments on a run that have nothing to do with pace, distance or timing.

The early morning light before the city wakes.

The shade of trees along a familiar route.

The changing colours around us as we keep moving.

They’re easy to miss when we’re chasing the next kilometre, keeping up with the group or simply trying to get through a run.

But sometimes, it’s these little moments between the miles that make running feel good.

For our 2026 Running Department collection, we wanted to capture one of them.

Introducing the Komorebi Series.

Made for the moments between the miles.

Komorebi is a Japanese word for sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees.

It describes something simple and fleeting. The changing light, the moving shadows and the dancing patterns created as sunlight finds its way through the trees.

For runners, those moments are familiar.

We see them on early morning long runs. We find them along familiar routes. And sometimes, we run straight through them without giving them much thought.

But they are part of the experience of being outdoors and part of the simple joy that keeps many of us coming back to running.

For the Komorebi Series, we translated that feeling into two distinct designs: Spring and Summer.

Two seasons. Two expressions.

Spring is bold, expressive and full of energy.

Reds, pinks and deeper tones come together with patterns of light and shadow, inspired by the energy and possibilities of a new season.

Summer takes on a different mood.

Lush shades of green evoke sunlight filtering through a canopy of leaves, capturing that familiar feeling of moving between light and shade as we run.

Different colours. Different moods.

But both began with the same moment.

Photo reference: Spring in bold red and pink is shown in the women’s cut, while Summer in green is shown in the men’s cut.

Designed by one of our own.

And that moment came from someone who knows our runs particularly well.

Both Spring and Summer were designed by Sherwin, one of our very own Running Department Run Crews.

The inspiration came from the quieter moments he noticed while running. The dancing patterns of light and shadow as sunlight shines through the trees.

Sherwin wanted to capture those moments as a visual metaphor for something all runners can relate to: the simple joys of running.

We love that the inspiration didn’t come from a mood board or a design trend.

It came from a run. And for a community built by runners, for runners, it feels particularly fitting that our latest collection was imagined by someone who runs alongside us too.

Made to move.

Both Spring and Summer are printed on the NEDAO Qiflow Ultralight Performance Running Top, bringing Sherwin’s Komorebi design to a lightweight performance singlet made for the kilometres ahead.

Turn either design around and you’ll find another little piece of Running Department running vertically down the back:

United by Distance.

Because whatever season we’re in, whatever pace we run and wherever our own running journeys take us, there is always something about the distance that brings us together.

And a few familiar faces are coming along too.

The Komorebi Series isn’t coming alone.

Every set includes a limited edition Running Department 32oz Nalgene Wide Mouth Bottle, featuring our familiar cast of RD mascots designed by Tammy Chew, aka TeeChewPaper.

A little bit of Running Department to bring along for your runs, workouts, workdays and everything in between.

Consider them your new hydration buddies.

Made for the community. Priced for the community.

Running Department has always believed that running should be free, welcoming and accessible to everyone.

We carry that same spirit into our merchandise.

The Komorebi Series was created for our community, not for profit. All items in this collection are sold at cost by Running Department, so we can keep them as accessible as possible to the runners who have supported and grown with us.

The Komorebi Single is S$69.90, and comes with your choice of Spring or Summer together with one limited edition Running Department Nalgene bottle (total worth S$92.90).

Can’t decide between the two?

The Komorebi Duo is S$118.90, and comes with both Spring and Summer together with one limited edition Running Department Nalgene bottle (total worth S$157.90).

Keep both for yourself, or share one with someone you love.

Because some things are simply better shared.
