Lion City Road Runners: Your Road to the BYD Singapore International Marathon Starts Here

The road to race day starts long before you reach the start line.

It starts with the first training run. The early mornings. The longer distances. The days when training feels great, and the days when simply showing up feels like an achievement.

Introducing the Lion City Road Runners (LCRR) powered by Running Department, a community initiative launched in collaboration with the BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by adidas.

And with training season kicking off, we are ready to welcome you to the road ahead.

One National Marathon. Many Running Communities. One Shared Purpose.

Lion City Road Runners is more than a series of training runs.

Powered by Running Department, LCRR brings runners together as we build towards one of the biggest running days on Singapore’s calendar.

Whether you belong to a running club, usually train on your own, are chasing a new personal best or preparing for your first race, you are welcome to train alongside us. Because when race day comes around, we may arrive at the start line from different places, but we are all working towards the same finish line.

Train With Your adidas Official Pacers

The LCRR training runs will be led by your BYD Marathon Pacers and adidas Half Marathon Pacers for 16 weeks, leading up to race day.

Across the training season, our pacers will help runners develop the consistency, endurance and confidence needed for the Half Marathon and Full Marathon.

More importantly, they are there to run with you.

Find the pace group that matches your race goal, settle into your rhythm and let the team help you through those increasingly important mileage as race day gets closer.

You do not have to be the fastest runner in the group. You simply have to keep showing up.

How Our Training Runs Work

Our training run is built around a simple idea: 6km at a time.

Most of our long runs are structured around manageable 6km loops, allowing runners to progressively build their mileage without feeling overwhelmed by distance. This approach also ensures you have regular access to hydration and support points throughout your run.

As the season progresses, total distances will increase in line with the training schedule leading up to race day. But instead of thinking in one continuous stretch, we break it down into repeatable loops so you can focus on one 6km segment at a time, then decide how far you want to go from there.

This structure gives you flexibility. If you are not ready for the full prescribed distance, you can complete one loop, or a shorter total distance that matches your current fitness and training plan.

The goal is not to run further than you should.

The goal is to train consistently, one loop at a time, so you arrive at race day ready.

Who Can Join?

You don’t have to be an LCRR Official Pacer or a Running Department Runner or Crew to train with us.

The LCRR training runs are opened to registered BYD Singapore International Marathon registered participants and runners from the running community.

Come with your friends. Come with your running community. Or simply come on your own and find a group to run with.

Whether you are preparing for your first adidas Half Marathon, chasing a BYDFull Marathon goal or simply looking for some company on your weekend long run, there is a place for you here.

Registration for each official training session is managed by the BYD Singapore International Marathon team, so remember to register for your preferred sessions before joining us.

Train Smart, Train Safe

As our training distances increase, taking care of yourself and the runners around you becomes even more important.

A few reminders before you join us:

  • Only run when you are well. If you are feeling unwell, recovering from an illness or nursing an injury, give your body the time it needs to recover.
  • Arrive early. Be at the meeting point at least 15 to 30 minutes before the run so you have sufficient time to settle in and listen to the briefing.
  • Listen to the run briefing. Routes, conditions and safety instructions may change from session to session.
  • Keep to two abreast. We share our running paths with pedestrians, cyclists, other runners and members of the public.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings. Pay particular attention at road crossings, junctions and areas with heavier pedestrian or cyclist traffic.
  • Hydrate properly. Hydration may be provided at selected sessions, but runners should still carry their own hydration where necessary, especially during longer runs.
  • Run within your ability. Training is not a race. If you need to slow down, change groups or shorten your distance, do so.
  • Stop if you feel unwell. Inform a pacer or crew member where possible. There will always be another training run.
  • Look out for one another. We train as a community, and everyone has a role to play in keeping our runs safe and enjoyable.
  • Leave nothing behind. Help us keep our training venues and running routes clean.

Weather and programme updates will be communicated through the relevant channels, so remember to check for the latest information before making your way down.

Race day lasts one morning but the journey begins now.
