We're asking you to volunteer with us as a pacer!

We are now on the look out for volunteer runners who are able to commit their time with Running Department to take on run leading and pacing projects. We hope that through our community outreach programme, we can nurture passionate runners into future pacers and running leaders.

Income Eco Run 2019


Closing Date: 19 Jan 2019, 2359hours

Basic Pacer Requirements:

  • Applicants have to be 18 years and above as of 28 April 2019.
  • For Half Marathon Pacer (21.1KM) Applicants, you must have done at least 2 Half Marathons with

    1. one being done within the last 8 months (eg: SCMS 2018, Eco Run 2018, 2XU Compression Run 2018 or equivalent) and 
    2. with a best timing of at least 15 to 30 minutes faster than the preferred choice of Pace Group.

  • For 10KM Pacer Applicants, you must have done at least 2 10KM races with

    1. one being done within the last 8 months (eg: SCSM 2018, GEWR 2018, Straits Times Run 2018 or equivalent) and 
    2. with a best timing of at least 5 to 10 minutes faster than the preferred choice of Pace Group

    Note:
    Other running experiences will also be put into consideration during the selection process.

  • All race timing submissions are correct and do not contain any discrepancies.
  • To be able to run at a steady pace, which is moderately slower than your normal pace.
  • To follow a 12 weeks training programme (12 weeks for Half Marathon Pacers, 6 weeks for 10KM Pacers) for the Pacers Programme starting from week of 4th February 2019 (Week 1)
  • To be able to achieve at least 10 out of 12 (80%) Saturday run sessions for Half Marathon Pacers and 5 out of 6 (80%) Saturday run sessions for Half Marathon Pacers.
  • To be able to achieve at least 50% attendance for Wednesday run sessions.
  • Attendance will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
  • To be able to attend 1 Pacer Lead Up Run (part of 12 weeks training).

    Note: In order to ensure that we deliver a Pacer Effort that is well received and recognized by the sporting community, we would want all applicants to know that the Pace Team treats the training and attendance of all Pacers very seriously.

  • To be able to put on the Income Eco Run 2019 Official Pacer gear provided by our official gear sponsors (New Balance).
  • You must not be involved in other pacing programme unless approved.
  • You enjoy helping others achieve their goal and is committed to this Pacer Initiative for the love of our running community.


Selection Run:

  • All short listed applicants will be contacted to attend a 9km (10KM) / 15km (HM) selection run on either of the following dates: 19 January or 26 January 2019, Saturday morning.


The requirements serve as a basic guideline on our Pacer Criteria.

All applicants are advised that they will be selected based on not just their running capability but also past track records (for past year pacers), their attitude and committment to the Income Eco Run 2019 Pacer Program.

You also understand that you are required to adhere to the following if you are selected as a Pacer:

  • Follows closely to the Training Plan provided by our official training partner.
  • To attend a Pacer Briefing Session on the week of 18 February 2019. Date to be confirmed.
  • Complete the 10KM / Half Marathon in a consistent pace with the pace group with a chip time of 30 seconds to 1 minute ahead of the pace group timing.
  • Complete the 10KM / Half Marathon in the Income Eco Run 2019 Official Pacers apparels provided by the apparel and gear sponsors.
  • Run with a lightweight sign or balloons attached to you during the entire race.
  • Provide a brief bio and photo for the pacers section on the official event website.
  • Provide all official race timings for races participated during the pacer programme.
  • Provide training records and logs for all runs (or make up runs) through Running Department's Strava Page
  • Must not participate in any races during the restricted blackout period (4 weeks prior to race day - Starting from 1 April 2019). All requests to take part in a race will be subjected to review on a case by case basis.
  • Must not participate in other races as a pacer unless the pacing project is organized by Running Department.
  • Must not participate in more than 3 racing events and:

    1. Must declare all race participations (5KM, 10KM, 21KM etc)
    2. Triathlon (All Categories), Full Marathon or Ultra Marathon events are subjected to review and approval.
    3. Additional races are granted on a case by case review.

Running Department reserves the right to review on individual applicants on a case by case basis.
